For entertainment, we would often visit malls in nearby communities... Galesburg...Peoria...the Quad Cities ...even Schaumburg. On vacations, I made it a point to explore the local mall.

Every community had its own enclosed mall. While they changed in scale, they were visually interchangeable and not particularly appealing. The stores repeated themselves from city to city and even the interior layout of the stores tended to be identical.
